Accessibility Statement

Last updated: June 1, 2026

8PG is committed to making 8pgevents.com, the King of Jars judging portal, and every 8PG event accessible to every member, regardless of ability. This statement describes the accessibility standards we target, the conformance posture we hold ourselves to, the gaps we are actively working on, and how to reach us if you encounter a barrier. We treat accessibility as a continuous practice rather than a fixed state, and we treat every reported barrier as a high priority remediation item.

1. Commitment Statement

We strive to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 Level AA across 8pgevents.com, the King of Jars marketing pages, the judging portal, the membership signup, the King of Jars competitor application, the checkout flow, and every legal document. These guidelines describe how to make web content more accessible to people with a wide range of disabilities, including visual, auditory, physical, speech, cognitive, language, learning, and neurological. We do not claim full conformance. We strive toward it, we audit against it on a regular cadence, and we publish the gaps we are still closing in the Known Gaps and Active Remediation section below.

2. Standards Targeted

8PG targets the following accessibility standards. We name them honestly so members know what we are aiming for and what we are aware of.

  • WCAG 2.2 Level AA. Our primary target. We design, code, audit, and remediate against the WCAG 2.2 AA success criteria, including the criteria new in WCAG 2.2 (focus appearance, dragging movements, target size minimum, consistent help, redundant entry, and accessible authentication).
  • Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act. We are aware of Section 508 obligations applicable to federal agencies and federal contractors and we draw from the Section 508 Revised Standards, which incorporate WCAG 2.0 AA by reference. Our WCAG 2.2 AA target meets and exceeds the Section 508 baseline.
  • EU EN 301 549. We are aware of the European Union accessibility standard EN 301 549, which references WCAG 2.1 AA for web content. Our WCAG 2.2 AA target exceeds the EN 301 549 web content baseline. 8pgevents.com is a United States facing property, and EN 301 549 is named here for awareness rather than as a direct compliance target.

3. Conformance Posture

We conform substantially to WCAG 2.2 Level AA on a code only basis across the marketing surface (homepage, About, King of Jars hub and tier pages, FAQ, Press, Shop, Contact, Events, the four legal pages, and the accessibility statement itself). The site wide blended estimate from our internal code only audit dated 2026-06-01 is approximately 88 of 100 against WCAG 2.2 AA, with the largest single contributor to the gap being a small number of items listed in Section 4 below. Our remediation target is 96 of 100 or better on code only following the in flight fixes, and 100 of 100 with manual assistive technology verification as the long term goal.

Conformance is a continuous practice. Where we identify a gap, we treat it as a priority remediation item and we publish it below. We do not claim a higher conformance posture than the audit supports.

4. Known Gaps and Active Remediation

We are transparent about where the site does not yet fully meet WCAG 2.2 AA. The following gaps were identified in our internal accessibility re audit dated 2026-06-01 and are in active remediation.

  • King of Jars judge portal: skip to content link. The judging portal layout currently does not include a “skip to content” link at the top of the page. A skip link and a matching id="main" target are in progress for the judging portal so keyboard and screen reader users can bypass the brand header on every load. The marketing surface already ships a working skip link.
  • Sterling Manor recap video: captions track. The Sterling Manor 2025 recap video that appears on the homepage, the About page, and the Events page currently does not carry a captions track. A WebVTT captions track is being added so the recap video meets WCAG 2.2 Level A success criterion 1.2.2 (Captions, Prerecorded).
  • King of Jars judge portal: viewport zoom. The judging portal viewport meta tag currently locks maximum-scale=1, which prevents pinch to zoom on iOS Safari and several mobile browsers. The viewport meta is under review for removal of the maximum-scale=1 lock so low vision members can zoom past 100 percent on mobile, consistent with WCAG 2.2 success criterion 1.4.4 (Resize Text).
  • Color contrast on certain admin and shop screens. A small number of admin only screens and one shop screen still ship body text with contrast under the 4.5 to 1 ratio required for normal text. The affected color values are under remediation and will be replaced with our higher contrast tokens.

We will update this Known Gaps section as items are remediated and as new gaps are identified.

5. Third Party Vendor Caveats

Some elements of 8pgevents.com are provided by third party vendors. We control how we integrate those vendors. We do not control how those vendors implement accessibility inside their own widgets, players, or hosted flows. We document the boundaries here so members know what to expect.

  • Cloudflare Turnstile. Forms on 8pgevents.com are protected by Cloudflare Turnstile, an invisible bot challenge that occasionally escalates to a visible challenge for suspicious traffic. The Turnstile widget is keyboard operable in its current release, but the visual challenge surface is rendered inside a Cloudflare iframe that we cannot directly modify. If you encounter a Turnstile challenge you cannot complete, contact 8PG at info@8pgevents.com or call +1 (718) 501 4294 and 8PG will complete the form on your behalf or arrange an alternative submission path.
  • Video hosting. The Sterling Manor recap video is hosted on 8PG infrastructure and uses native browser video controls, which inherit the browser’s own accessibility behavior. Native browser controls are keyboard operable and screen reader announced. The captions track for this video is in progress per Section 4 above.
  • Payment provider. 8PG is in the process of going live with a third party payment provider. Before payment is enabled, 8PG will confirm the provider’s WCAG 2.2 AA conformance posture, typically through the provider’s Voluntary Product Accessibility Template (VPAT). Until the payment provider is enabled, all payment flows run on 8pgevents.com surfaces that 8PG controls directly.
  • Embedded social content. Embedded Instagram and YouTube content, where it appears, is subject to those platforms’ accessibility implementations. 8PG does not modify embedded social content.

6. Keyboard Navigation Reference

8pgevents.com is designed to be fully operable by keyboard. The following keys map to the most common navigation actions across the site.

  • Tab — Move forward to the next interactive element (link, button, form field, menu item).
  • Shift + Tab — Move backward to the previous interactive element.
  • Enter or Space — Activate the currently focused link or button. Space toggles checkboxes; Enter submits forms.
  • Esc — Close an open modal, dropdown, or menu and return focus to the element that opened it.
  • Arrow keys — Move between options inside select menus, radio groups, and in cart line item quantity controls.

A visible focus indicator marks the currently focused element. If you encounter an interactive element that is not reachable by keyboard, or that does not show a visible focus indicator, report it under Section 8 below.

7. Assistive Technology Tested

8PG manually tests core flows against the following assistive technologies as part of our release cadence. We name them honestly because the test surface and the test depth vary.

  • NVDA on Firefox (Windows). Tested against the membership signup, the King of Jars competitor application, the checkout flow, and every legal page.
  • JAWS on Chrome (Windows). Tested against the membership signup and the King of Jars hub and tier pages.
  • VoiceOver on Safari (macOS). Tested against the membership signup, the King of Jars competitor application, the checkout flow, and every legal page.
  • VoiceOver on Safari (iOS). Tested at iPhone SE viewport (375 pixel wide) with text size at 200 percent for the membership signup and the King of Jars hub.
  • TalkBack on Chrome (Android). Tested at standard Pixel viewport for the membership signup.

The assistive technology test pass surfaces the gaps that the code only audit cannot fully predict, including announcement order, focus restoration after modal close, and live region politeness. Where the assistive technology test surfaces a gap not present in the code only audit, the gap is added to the Known Gaps and Active Remediation section above.

8. Report an Accessibility Barrier

If you encounter an accessibility barrier on 8pgevents.com, the King of Jars judging portal, or at an 8PG event, please contact us. We treat accessibility reports as high priority remediation items.

  • Email: info@8pgevents.com
  • Subject line: “Accessibility”
  • Phone: +1 (718) 501 4294

Please include, where possible:

  • The page URL or the event where the barrier occurred.
  • A short description of the barrier and what you were trying to do.
  • The assistive technology you were using, where applicable (screen reader, magnifier, switch device, voice control).
  • Your contact information so we can follow up with a resolution or an alternative path.

Response targets:

  • 5 business day acknowledgment of the report.
  • 30 day resolution target for the underlying barrier, or, where a 30 day resolution is not feasible, a written status update that includes an interim alternative path to the information or task.
  • Escalation. If a 30 day resolution target is not met or the resolution is not acceptable, the report is escalated to 8PG management for direct review. Management will respond within 5 business days of escalation.

For event accommodations, including ADA parking, ASL interpretation, dietary considerations, low sensory space, or other reasonable accommodations, please email us at least 10 days before the event so we can plan thoroughly with the venue.

9. Audit Cadence

8PG conducts the following accessibility audits on a regular cadence.

  • Internal quarterly audits. A code only audit against WCAG 2.2 AA is conducted every quarter, with results documented in the AUDITS folder of the repository. The Known Gaps section above is updated based on the most recent quarterly audit.
  • Internal assistive technology pass. A manual pass against NVDA, JAWS, VoiceOver, and TalkBack on the surfaces listed in Section 7 above is conducted at least twice per year.
  • Annual external audit (budget permitting). When budget allows, 8PG retains an external accessibility consultant to conduct an independent WCAG 2.2 AA audit and to publish a summary report. The most recent audit date is reflected in the “Last updated” date on this page.
  • Pre release sweep. Every release that introduces a new page, a new form, or a new interactive component is run through automated checks (axe core, Lighthouse, Pa11y) and a manual keyboard pass before deploy.

Audit findings that are not feasible to remediate in the short term are added to the Known Gaps and Active Remediation section above with the active remediation status.

10. ADA Framework Statement

8PG operates 8pgevents.com and 8PG events as places of public accommodation under Title III of the Americans with Disabilities Act. We are aware of the legal framework established by Robles v. Domino’s Pizza, LLC, Gil v. Winn Dixie Stores, Inc., Andrews v. Blick Art Materials, LLC, and the line of cases that has developed since. We make a good faith, ongoing, documented effort to make 8pgevents.com, the judging portal, and 8PG events accessible to people with disabilities, and we treat every reported barrier as a priority remediation item under the Section 8 process.

We do not assert that 8pgevents.com is currently free of all accessibility barriers. We assert that we strive to conform to WCAG 2.2 AA, that we publish the gaps we are still closing in Section 4 above, that we operate a clear and well staffed report and remediation process under Section 8, and that we apply a regular audit cadence under Section 9 to surface and close gaps continuously.

Nothing in this statement is intended to limit any right available to you under Title III of the Americans with Disabilities Act, the California Unruh Civil Rights Act, the California Disabled Persons Act, or any other applicable accessibility or anti discrimination law.

11. Modifications

8PG may modify, update, revise, supplement, replace, or amend this Accessibility Statement at any time. Changes are effective when posted on 8pgevents.com or otherwise made available, unless a later effective date is stated. The “Last updated” date below reflects the most recent change. Material changes to the Known Gaps section will be reflected in the next quarterly audit cycle.
