Accessibility Statement
8PG is committed to making our website and events accessible to every member, regardless of ability. This statement describes the accessibility standards we follow, the steps we take to meet them, and how to reach us if you encounter a barrier.
Our Commitment
We aim to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 Level AA across 8pgevents.com. These guidelines explain how to make web content more accessible to people with a wide range of disabilities, including visual, auditory, physical, speech, cognitive, language, learning, and neurological.
What We Do
- Semantic structure. Every page uses proper heading hierarchy, landmarks, and descriptive link text so screen readers can navigate the site.
- Keyboard navigation. All interactive elements — forms, buttons, menus, modals — are reachable and operable with a keyboard alone. Focus is always visible.
- Contrast. Body text is designed to meet or exceed 4.5:1 contrast, and large headings meet or exceed 3:1.
- Alternative text. Meaningful images include descriptive alt text; decorative images are marked as such so assistive tech can skip them.
- Motion. We respect the
prefers-reduced-motionsetting — background video and decorative animation are paused for users who prefer reduced motion. - Forms. Every field has an associated label, clear error messaging, and
aria-liveregions for status updates. - Documents. PDFs we publish (event decks, fact sheets) are produced with tagged structure and readable text whenever possible.
Event Accessibility
For in-person events, we work with our venues to ensure wheelchair access, accessible restrooms, and seating accommodations. If you need a specific accommodation — ADA parking, ASL interpretation, dietary considerations, low-sensory space — please email us at least 10 days before the event so we can plan thoroughly.
Third-Party Content
Our checkout is hosted on 8pgevents.com. Payment is processed by a third-party payment provider that meets WCAG 2.2 AA accessibility standards. Embedded social content (Instagram, YouTube) is subject to those platforms’ accessibility implementations.
Report a Barrier or Request an Accommodation
If you experience difficulty using any part of 8pgevents.com or need an accommodation for an event, please contact us — we treat accessibility issues as high-priority fixes.
Email: info@8pgevents.com
Please include:
- The page URL or event where the barrier occurred
- A description of the problem and, if possible, the assistive technology (screen reader, magnifier, switch) you were using
- Your contact information so we can follow up
We aim to acknowledge accessibility requests within two business days and resolve reported issues within 30 days, or provide an alternative path to the information.
Ongoing Work
Accessibility is a continuous practice, not a finish line. We audit the site regularly using automated tools (axe, Lighthouse) and manual keyboard + screen-reader testing. This statement is reviewed and updated with each major site release.
